About the position

This challenging position is a senior position responsible for managing and executing Green Power’s conservation work, which includes diverse areas such as habitat management, river protection, butterfly conservation and local recycling. You will also be engaged in environmental education and campaigns targeting teachers, students and the public. You will need to support the Director, and work closely with different teams in implementing different conservation, education and community projects.


Responsibilities: 

  • Provide Green Power with new insights, strategic and technical advice in developing conservation and education initiatives of different aspects.
  • Provide scientific and technical expertise in wetland and river conservation issues, in particular for our Sha Lo Tung and Tung Chung River conservation projects.
  • Engage in biodiversity and habitat surveys which are a part of our wetland, river or butterfly projects.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate education and community projects and campaigns to ensure they fulfill agreed conservation and education objectives.
  • Manage other tasks such as proposal preparation, financial control of specific projects, report writing and staff training where necessary.
  • Mentor and oversee junior staff in the team to enhance the effectiveness of their work and promote their personal development.

 
Basic requirements: 

  • Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. ecology, environmental and biological science)
  • Working experience (not less than 8 years) in relevant areas such as nature conservation, habitat management, environmental education or environmental consultancy (Candidates with less experience will be considered as Assistant Conservation and Education Manager)
  • Track record in managing projects in areas such as conservation or natural resource management
  • Extensive knowledge of holistic environmental issues
  • Capacity to be a spokesperson on conservation
  • Good written and spoken English

 

 Nice to be/have:

  • Outdoor and nature lover
  • Extensive knowledge in specific taxa of living organisms, species identification and ecological research skills
  • Experience in leading outdoor activities such as nature tours and trainings

 

This position bases in our headquarters in Mongkok. We offer a 5-day work week. Occasionally, you are required to work on Saturday, Sunday or public holidays; compensation leave will be provided in such circumstances.
