Purpose of job

  • An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Development Lead to drive forward new solutions based around our custom in-house PARIS platform.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our team of energetic developers and ensuring the delivery of robust, sustainable and flexible solutions to best meet strategic goals.
  • This role is a key part of Fleet’s focus to develop leading digital capability to enhance and improve our platforms deployed over 500 ships.

Jobs Responsibilities:

Leading the Development of Front-end and Back-end Software

  • Working closely with the development team to build and deliver both front-end and back-end components following industry best-practices and in adherence with architectural principles
  • Provide workable solutions and options that balance the need to meet strategic goals whilst also delivering short-term benefits to meet business objectives
  • Using methods such as prototyping to identify innovative solutions in line with technology trends to both demonstrate how IT can help solve problems effectively and efficiently

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Working closely with stakeholders and end users to understand needs and how best to deliver innovative solutions to meet and exceed expectations
  • Communicating clearly and concisely across all levels – facilitating key design decisions with senior business and IT stakeholders in simple terms

Team Working & People Management

  • Providing mentoring and coaching to the development team – sharing experience in technical expertise and best practices and helping the team to overcome hurdles
  • Supporting the development of individuals in meeting their potential through both technical and soft-skills
  • Working collaboratively with the rest of the IT team members – based onshore and offshore – to ensure that solutions delivered are high-quality and easy-to-support.

Jobs Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Development Lead role. This includes leading a team of (at least 3) developers providing mentoring, coaching and guidance on a day-to-day basis
  • A proven track-record in development of high-quality, easy-to-support solutions using SOA REST, JSON API Development, API Frameworks with SQL and NOSQL Databases
  • A solid knowledge with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, Javascript, C#, Objective C, Python, Go
  • Thorough understanding of concepts, principles and implementation approaches of service-oriented architecture including microservices Developed, maintained and overseen applications hosted on cloud-based providers (eg Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Hands-on development experience of designing, creating and deployment of mobile applications for Android and/or iOS
  • Successful implementation knowledge of DevOps methods and associated CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Maven
  • Working knowledge / experience of Agile methodologies and techniques (eg SCRUM, XP, Lean) de
