Purpose of Job

  • Responsible for all aspects of market research and analysis in support of proposals for both new hotel developments, and the renovation of existing assets
  • Prepare proposals to potential developers and support presentations to internal and external stakeholders
  • Undertake broader hospitality industry research and propose the Swire Hotels expansion strategy 

Reporting Relationships

Report to the Deputy Chairman  

 

Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Acquire knowledge of the existing business portfolio KPI’s in order to undertake benchmark analysis
  • Gain an understanding of the region, potential markets and suitable developer / partners
  • Proactively establish contacts within the real estate community (JLL, CBRE, Savills etc.)
  • Compile market analysis reports to propose and set growth strategy
  • Work with the CSO and hotel property teams to acquire contextual information and develop an understanding of operations
  • Acquire an understanding of the importance of labour, infrastructure and other socio-economic forces that influence a hotels ability to perform well
  • Prepare and present pro-forma financial projections for future properties
  • Fluently articulate the brands to potential partners
  • Handle site due diligence and propose on owner selection
  • Keep tracking of project status

 

Skills, Qualifications and Experience Requirements 

  • University or post-graduate diploma or equivalent professional qualification
  • Minimum 7 years’ work experience involving commercial research and analysis, ideally 5 years experience in hotel development role either with one of the big firms (JLL, CBRE , HVS, Haworth etc) or local/international hotel groups 
  • Candidate with employment or residency in Hong Kong currently is preferred
  • International mindset with an appetite for knowledge and current affairs
  • Ability to prepare and manage a budget
  • Understanding of travel and / or hospitality market dynamics
  • Resourceful, energetic and outgoing personality with strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter, able to work well without supervision
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English – other Asian languages an advantage
  • Support-minded, team-player, sense of humour and a tireless desire to deliver results
  • Confident, engaging, public speaking skills
