Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (HKAM) is an independent institution with statutory power to organize, monitor, assess, and accredit all medical and dental specialist training in Hong Kong. It provides and accredits continuing medical education and continuous professional development for the purpose of specialist registration.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute (HKJCDPRI) was established in 2014 and funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. It is housed in and led by HKAM, aiming to build a prepared community in Hong Kong to respond to disasters. The HKJCDPRI of the HKAM now recruits the following staff.

Major Responsibilities:

  • To lead and motivate the team in implementing all aspects of policies and plans, based on the budget set, in an effective and efficient manner;
  • To oversee and ensure the quality and professionalism of all operations of the HKJCDPRI;
  • To report to the Executive Committee (EC) and Advisory Board (AB) of the HKJCDPRI, and consult the EC regularly on significant developments and major management decisions;
  • Support the effective functioning of governance structures, and develop institutional structures, policies, and capacities for continued growth;
  • Lead the development and implementation of the HKJCDPRI’s income generation strategy, and develop innovative fundraising initiatives;
  • Proactively manage and foster relationships with existing and prospective collaborators, represent the HKJCDPRI positively with the donors, stakeholders and the public;
  • To undertake any other duties as may be reasonably expected and which are commensurate with the level of the post.

 

Requirements:

  • University degree holder with track records of working with diverse and multi-level stakeholders, creating collaborative platforms, as well as building partnership and alliances;
  • At least 10 years’ solid experience in similar capacity, preferably in a non-profit setting;
  • Professional background or experience in the emergency response sector would be an advantage but not a must;
  • Clear commitment to the mission and values of the HKJCDPRI, with knowledge in disaster management and education in both the local and international context;
  • Outstanding leadership qualities, able to work effectively with internal and external parties at all levels;
  • Proven knowledge and experience in fundraising, corporate social responsibility, and/or sponsor engagement;
  • Highly collaborative, with strong attention to details and excellent organization skills;
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects concurrently, to meet tight deadlines;
  • Excellent communication skills, proficient in both written and verbal English and Chinese;
  • Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • Overseas travels and irregular work hours are occasionally required.
