Director of Facilities Management (Ref. 16111514-E2)

The Facilities Management Office (the Office) is responsible for the provision of professional, quality and client-focused facilities management service to support the University to achieve its mission. The Office also formulates strategies and policies for facilities management in support of the strategic development of the University. For further details of the Office, please visit its website at

The University is now looking for a dynamic, mature and highly competent professional for the post of Director of Facilities Management to assume overall managerial responsibility on all functions relating to the Office.

The appointee will be required to (a) lead and manage a team of professional/technical/supporting staff in fulfilling the professional servicing obligations of the Office; (b) advocate and cultivate a customer-oriented culture amongst staff at all levels to provide client-focused facilities management services to the University community; (c) formulate and review strategies in the provision of supporting services including cleaning, security guarding and landscaping maintenance to provide an environment conducive to teaching and learning; (d) set strategic departmental objectives and goals and arrange efficient deployment of resources to meet these goals; and (e) formulate strategies in the planning and implementation of cost-effective repair and maintenance programmes for the University’s properties.

Applicants should have (a) a recognised degree or a higher degree in Facilities Management, Building Surveying, Building Engineering or related disciplines; (b) a relevant professional qualification and good knowledge of relevant statutory regulations; (c) extensive experience in managing and formulating policies and strategies as well as implementing changes with significant impacts; (d) proven leadership experience in developing and managing a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and technical staff in collaboration with clients, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders; (e) demonstrated ability to undertake effective policies, financial analysis, scenario development and planning approaches for a wide range of systems typical in a campus environment; (f) highly refined communication skills for working with internal and external stakeholders; and (g) an analytical mind with strong planning and organizing abilities as well as people management and problem solving skills.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
