Director of Finance

We are currently in the process of forming a new impact fund that shall invest profitably in private companies which are socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable. It shall specialize at the nexus of sustainability and technology and serving as a connector between start-ups and markets in the East and West. The upcoming fund shall invest in three key areas: green tech, agri-food tech and fintech for financial inclusion.

Reporting to the Managing Partner, the responsibilities for the role includes:

• Set up and maintain financial controls, regular management reporting, budgeting, cash management and set up expense policy
• Manage outgoing and incoming financial transactions which shall include but not limited to funding of a portfolio company, new investee company, capital call etc.
• Calculate returns and carry interest entitlements on divestment of portfolio companies
• Manage the annual audit process and tax returns of the funds
• Keep track of insurance provisions and policies to cover the operations
• Ensure full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and government filings
• Create and maintain fund, portfolio, and investor dashboards
• Obtain and organize monthly & quarterly financial, legal documents and stock certificates for each portfolio company investment
• Maintain up-to-date capitalisation tables (along with realized and unrealized return) for all portfolio company investments 
• Audit portfolio company D&O insurance policies for compliance with requirements (as needed basis)
• Develop the fair market value (FMV) calculations for the portfolio
• Develop capital calls and oversee notice and collection

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor Degree or above holder with CPA or equivalent qualification
• At least 10 years’ relevant experience in investment industries is an advantage
• Familiarity to data analytics tools, business intelligence tools, Excel marco etc.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, structured thinking with a commercial mind-set
• Ability to work in an unstructured environment, navigate ambiguity, manage multiple assignments simultaneously, and provide clarity and structure
• Excellent communication skills with fluency in English and proficient in Cantonese and Mandarin
