Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE) was recently upgraded from Yew Chung Community College (YCCC) and is a member of the Yew Chung Education Foundation (YCEF) in Hong Kong, which, together with its sister schools in Mainland China and the USA, offers bilingual international education at Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary levels. Our network of schools currently serves more than 8,000 students.

YCCECE, building on the achievement of YCCC and the strengths of YCEF, is a provider of high quality post-secondary programmes with special niche in Early Childhood Education (ECE). It is now the first and only specialist ECE degree-awarding institution in Hong Kong which incorporates in its programmes the most advanced knowledge and approaches in ECE from around the world. Our boutique-sized College values and promotes interactive learning, small-class teaching and hands-on experiences. Being an English-speaking College with an international faculty, we also attract non-Chinese-speaking students, and take pride in our staff and student diversity.

The College offers a Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood Education (BEdECE) Programme with entry to Year 1 of a 4-year full-time study and with Senior Year Entry in full-time and part-time study, a 2-year Higher Diploma Programme in Early Childhood Education (HDECE) and a 1-year Diploma in Early Childhood Studies programme. The BEdECE & HDECE programmes qualify their graduates to be registered in Hong Kong as Kindergarten Teachers, Child Care Workers, Child Care Supervisors, and Special Child Care Workers. Positions Summary:
The successful applicants will have a passion and demonstrated ability to teach Early Childhood Education courses. Expertise in the following domains is desirable:

  1. Foundations in ECE, including the areas of contemporary ECE issues in Hong Kong;
  2. Curriculum in ECE, including (i) English Language learning in Young Children and (ii) Mathematics, Science and Technology; and
  3. Early Childhood Student Project.

Requirements:
Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  1. Minimum a Master’s degree in relevant discipline; and
  2. At least 3 years’ full-time relevant teaching experience at post-secondary level or comparable industrial experience; and
  3. Some participation in scholarly activities is an advantage.

Salary and Fringe Benefits:

Suitable applicants can be appointed as full-time Term Associates for Term 2 (January to June, 2019) of the 2018-19 or as Part-time Lecturers.

For Term Associates, appointment will be made on a 7-month contract basis. Remuneration is competitive and will be based on qualifications and relevant experience. The College offers group medical insurance. The College offers Mandatory Provident Fund to eligible appointee. There is a possibility for contract renewal subject to appointees’ performance and student enrolments for 2019-20.

For Part-time Lecturers, remuneration will be based on qualifications and relevant experience.

Important notes to Applicants:

Appointees will be required to undergo a teacher registration process with the Education Bureau. In order to complete this process, the following are required:

  1. Applicants with overseas qualifications will have to go through qualification assessment to be conducted by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation and Vocational Qualifications. The costs for the qualification assessment will be borne by the appointees.
  2. Appointees will have to undergo a medical examination. Reimbursement of costs subject to a ceiling is applicable.
  3. Appointees will have to undergo a Sexual Conviction Record Check before appointment can be confirmed. The cost for the check will be reimbursable.
