The Technological and Higher Education Institute (THEi) offers over 20 innovative degree programmes that are vocationally oriented and developed with significant industry input through three faculties - Faculty of Design and Environment, Faculty of Management and Hospitality, and Faculty of Science and Technology.  All the programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and most are also accredited by the relevant professional bodies.  At present, seven programmes are in the Government’s Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP), which provides subsidies to students varying from $40,000 to $70,000 per year.  For more information about our Institute, please visit https://www.thei.edu.hk.

Major Duties:

(a)   To provide clerical and general administrative support to Faculty / Department / Operational Unit of the Institute;

(b)   To draft official correspondence, including emails, letters and notices;

(c)   To assist in document management, and the compilation of management reports and statistics;

(d)   To handle enquiries and provide counter services;

(e)   To provide secretarial and administrative support to the management of the Institute; and

(f)    To assist in the supervision of junior / minor grade staff.

 

Requirements:

(a)    (i)   5 subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) at Grade E / Level 2 or above including English Language (Syllabus B)*, Chinese Language and Mathematics, or equivalent; OR

(ii)  A combination of results in 5 subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination at Level 2 or above in New Senior Secondary subjects / "Attained" or above in Applied Learning subjects / Grade E or above in other language subjects, and the 5 subjects should include English Language*, Chinese Language and Mathematics; OR

(iii) A recognised Certificate / Diploma / Foundation Diploma / Foundation Certificate, or Project Yi Jin;

*      Completion of Hong Kong Vocational English Programme (HKVEP) at Level 2 / passing 5 specific VTC’s Vocational English Module Certificates is considered an alternative qualification.

(b)    A high proficiency in the use of computer software applications, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Chinese word processing;

(c)    Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills; and

(d)    Ability to work independently and be a good team player.

 

Notes:

(1)    Candidates may be appointed on temporary terms of employment.

(2)    Applicants without the academic qualifications required but have completed Form 5 or equivalent may be considered for the post of Executive Assistant III.

(3)    Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend and pass a computer skills test in MS Word, Chinese word processing (Cangjie (倉頡) or Quick ()) and MS Excel.

(4)    The appointee may be required to work irregular hours or shifts and perform duties on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.

(5)    The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The post is for the Human Performance Laboratory, or Sports Therapy Centre of the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons) in Sports and Recreation Management.

 

Major duties:

(a)   To assist in the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of sports science and therapy equipment such as metabolic system, heart rate system, motion capture system, blood lactate, glucose, ketone system, electromyography system, ultrasonography system, shock wave and foot scanner;

(b)   To assist in the day-to-day operation and management of the laboratory or centre;

(c)   To provide technical support to staff in teaching and research related activities;

(d)   To assist academic staff in preparation, demonstration of laboratory or practical classes and projects;

(e)   To assist academic staff in designing and developing training materials, and conducting practical training or workshop(s);

(f)    To assist in the development and implementation of projects assigned;

(g)   To coordinate the procurement of consumables and equipment; and

(h)   To assist in inventory estimate, control and storage.

 

Requirements:

(a)   A recognised diploma or a higher certificate in Sports Science, Sports Therapy, Sports Medicine, Biomedical Engineering, or related disciplines;

(b)   At least 2 years’ relevant work experience, preferably in tertiary education institutions, or testing laboratories;

(c)   Good knowledge of operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of relevant equipment;

(d)   Good negotiation, problem-solving, management and interpersonal skills; and

(e)   Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese.

(2)   The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
