Various Operational Units

Specialism : Building Services

Major Duties :

(a) To inspect and supervise contractors in new building projects, repair and maintenance, major and minor alterations and addition works, and building and facilities management;

(b) To supervise works performed by direct labourers and report on the works progress and performance;

(c) To assist in the formulation of maintenance schedules and programmes for building maintenance and various trades of building services installation, and preparation and compilation of annual budget relating to the maintenance, alterations and addition works and building management;

(d) To undertake investigations of building systems / facilities and make recommendations for improvement;

(e) To prepare sketches, layouts and cost estimates for maintenance, alterations and addition works and coordinate with other disciplines;

(f) To check and verify on-site materials and its proper deployment;

(g) To monitor on-site safety regulations being properly observed; and

(h) To liaise and collaborate with counterparts in the Council, consultants, public officers, contractors and utility companies on matters relating to the execution or scheduling of works.

              

Note: Appointee may be posted to a campus to take charge of the overall functions of its Facilities Management Office which is responsible for the preventive maintenance, cleaning, pest control, security, carpark control, landscape, logistic support to events / functions, and building projects of the campus.

              

Requirements :

(a) A recognized higher diploma in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and building services engineering, or equivalent; possession of qualification(s) in building studies is an added advantage;

(b) At least 5 years’ relevant building services work experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably with work experience in handling term maintenance contracts in the capacity of Assistant Building Services Inspector and in managing a wide spectrum of facilities at Institute settings and/or in managing and maintaining sizable landscaped areas;

(c) Preferably with knowledge of other disciplines related to the construction industry, such as building regulations and building management;

(d) Proficiency in English and Chinese; and

(e) Good supervisory, interpersonal and communication skills.

              

Notes :

(1) Appointees may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours and in designated places as assigned.
