Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime. 

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Financial Crime Compliance Manager International, Asia Pacific. 

In this role, you will

  • Support the Asia Pacific Head of Financial Crime Compliance, Retail Banking and Wealth Management and Asia Pacific Senior Financial Crime Compliance Retail Banking and Wealth Management Managers in the implementation of policy in Asia Pacific Countries for Financial Crime Compliance risk management framework to meet regulatory requirements and legislation.
  • Support the country Financial Crime Compliance team to successfully implement and embed all policies, procedures and systems related to the Global Standard programme within the Retail Banking and Wealth Management business
  • Work closely with the relevant regional Retail Banking and Wealth Management stakeholders such as Head of International, Head of Global Standards, Regional Reputation and Client Selection team to mitigate any inherent risks associated with prospective business, products and services, and new regulations.
  • Review and concur profiles of Political Exposed Persons at on boarding and during periodic reviews.
  • Collaborate with other Retail Banking and Wealth Management related stakeholders in the region and country to appropriately escalate or cascade and share learnings.
  • Provide support on the oversight and management of the Retail Banking and Wealth Management Financial Crime Compliance teams in the countries, to maintain relevant contacts in Global Businesses and Global Functions to ensure consistent and effective application, implementation and controls to evidence related Anti Money Laundering regional standards, policies and procedures.
  • Stay at the forefront of key regulatory changes to ensure proactive communication with business and implement appropriate group policy and framework to manage the changes. 

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements

  • Professional with experience in one or more risk compliance roles. Financial Crime Compliance experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of Financial Crime Compliance including Anti Money Laundering, Counter Terrorism Financing and Sanctions regulations and guidance.
  • Significant experience in the financial services industry.
  • Lateral thinker with an ability to interpret and solve complex issues.
  • Very good communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of dealing with regulatory matters and confident interaction with Regulators
  • Ability to implement practical, cost effective solutions to complex global issues.
