Reporting to Deputy Director, Curatorial and Chief Curator (DDCCC), the role will be responsible for providing vision and leadership in delivering the museum’s curatorial contents across online and print platforms. The post will work alongside the museum’s executive and leadership team across different teams and departments to define and deliver an ambitious global strategy for the museum.

 

You will be responsible for: 

  • advising and working closely with DDCCC and direct reports, together strategizing and structuring the museum’s online and print content calendar, and playing a key role in shaping the museum’s editorial and content strategy across multiple channels and platforms;
  • helping to shape the institution’s voice that is unique, knowledgeable, and approachable, befitting a new 21st-century museum of visual culture;
  • embedding digital thinking and practices across museum activities and programmes, and facilitating digital sharing and training to improve digital literacy and collaboration among colleagues across the organisation;  
  • consolidating and revamping existing digital platforms such as M+ Stories and M+ Collections Beta, as well as a host of legacy projects and microsites into a new integrated website, and creating porosity and connectivity between the museum’s website, in-gallery digital devices and outlets, and social media;
  • overseeing and managing a team of digital and editorial professional, providing guidance and direction to the team on online and print content productions, and seeking opportunities of enhancing efficiency across platforms;
  • liaising and collaborating closely with the leaders of the other teams within Curatorial department, and ensuring collaboration and partnership with other teams and departments within the museum, such as conservation, rights and reproductions, publication, retail, and development;  
  • maintaining close contact and collaboration with key counterparts in the Authority such as Marketing and Customer Experience, Corporate Public Affairs, and Innovation and Technology;
  • interfacing regularly with the museum’s executive team to share learnings, analyses, and recommendations;
  • managing budgets, forecasting, and reporting effectively, and driving tangible and measurable results against set goals and KPIs; and
  • performing any other duties as assigned and agreed when necessary.

 

You should:

  • possess a recognised university degree or above in museum studies, arts administration, cultural studies, journalism, and other relevant fields;
  • have at least 12 years of work experience in museum, cultural, or content-producing organizations where 5 years at supervisory position;
  • possess substantial experience in managing and developing a team with diverse background;
  • have solid experience working across a wide variety of media, including text, video, and interactive media;
  • have experience creating content in multiple languages is preferred;
  • possess proven ability to balance priorities, projects, budgets, and tasks within a complex environment and the ability to deliver consistently high-quality work;
  • possess strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills as well as stakeholder management; and
  • be proficient in both written and verbal English, knowledge of Chinese is an advantage.
