We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Head of Core Trade IT.

In this role, you will

  • Help define technology strategy for Core Trade, in alignment with wider Traditional Trade, Global Trade and Receivable Finance, Commercial Banking and HSBC strategies
  • Execute defined strategy, in support of business needs and aspirations on growth, management and control
  • Manage directly or indirectly a global team of developers, software engineers and deployment specialists.
  • Liaise and influence discipline leaders including engineering, quality, project management, to reshape the structure of the global technology team.
  • Help establish a fit for purpose organization, focused on producing and deploying technology solution per specification and in a cost effective manner, aligned for product and business evolution
  • Drive technology evolution adoption, in collaboration with enterprise, solution and technical architects
  • Address technology debt of existing legacy solutions
  • Champion management and resolution of technology inherent and dependent risks
  • Provide strategic guidance to product direction through insight and feedback relative to the business’s critical challenges, solutions and opportunities.
  • Help establish and drive a roadmap for technology and architecture evolution of Core Trade technology estate.
  • Manage and meet key performance indicators on technology offering
  • Manage global budgets and be accountable for actuals, forecasting and annual planning of resources and technology.
  • Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which you are involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including the Group Compliance policy.
  • Maintain HSBC Internal Control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with your role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements

  • Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science   from a recognised university
  • Engineering experience working within a major technology orientated organisation with experience of being successful in a matrix organisation with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent understanding of software development methodologies such as SDLC, Agile, DevOps
  • Good understanding of Project Management methodologies and approaches such as Prince2, Agile, waterfall, SDLC
  • Extensive experience in managing development of highly complex systems across Mainframe zSeries, Mid range iSeries and server eSeries or Linux with matrix environment and teams in multiple locations. MVS, DB2, iSeries RPG, Linus, eSeries, Java, Cloud computing, Plex, EDI
  • Experience managing multiple teams in the design, development, installation or maintenance of large scale applications.
  • Proven experience in implementing continuous deployment and DevOps practices
  • Experience in integration business, layers, workflow and orchestration solutions and design patterns
  • Proven experience in managing geographically disperse organisations
  • Extensive experience in Vendor Management
  • Extensive experience in portfolio, programme, and project management
  • Budget management including direct costs, internal customer charges
  • Banking domain knowledge in Core Trade and Core Banking
  • Domain knowledge in Core Trade, Trade Finance, Lending, Accounting and general Core Banking.
  • Digital customer facing technology and propositions
  • Legacy and back office systems integration technologies and solutions
  • Experience and proven results on technology consolidation programme, IT restructuring, right shoring implementation.
  • Third party software management
