The School of Continuing Education, one of the eight Faculties/Schools of the University and a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong, offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes at the post-secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels for young learners and working adults.  It also offers in-house training and short courses to meet the community needs and market demands.  Operated on a self-financed basis, the School and its College of International Education currently employ about 400 full-time staff and 500 part-time instructors.  The Public Relations and Communication Section of the School invites applications for the following position to participate in web application design and development, as well as digital promotional projects.
Information Technology Officer (Web Development) (PR0762/21-22)
  • Participate in the entire System Development Life Cycle (SDLC);
  • Responsible for web application development, testing and deployment for cross-platform compatible websites and mobile friendly applications;
  • Provide basic maintenance and support of systems/application servers;
  • Conduct feasibility studies, prepare documentation and provide testing/maintenance support for digital promotional projects; and
  • Manage web requests to ensure quality output through effective collaboration with work partners.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT or related disciplines;
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in web development;
  • Proficiency in HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, PHP, JSON, MySQL and responsive web design;
  • Experience in managing and developing WordPress websites is essential;
  • Experience in Git or related version control concepts;
  • Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems like CentOS or Ubuntu;
  • Competence in SEO, Google Analytics, AngularJS, Node.js, Vue js and digital marketing knowledge will be an advantage but not a must;
  • Openness to learning new technology;
  • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills; and
  • A good command of English and Chinese.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a proficiency test.
The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years.  Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
