IT Technician

IT Technician in the Centre for Information Technology in Education within the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 496896) (to commence as soon as possible and not later than September 1, 2019 until August 31, 2021 on a fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary)

Applicants should possess an Associate Degree/Higher Diploma/Bachelors degree in IT or computer science related disciplines with excellent knowledge of web-based technologies in education; excellent programming skills and in-depth knowledge of modern web technologies such as HTML 5, JavaScript ES5/6 and CSS3; as well as strong knowledge of PHP. Experiences in using popular JavaScript libraries such as JQuery and Handlebars, customization/development of Moodle modules, and system administration of web server are definite advantages. Priority will be given to those who have experience in developing web applications independently and can show samples/repository of previous works by including related links in their C.V.

The appointee will be responsible for developing and maintaining a customized Moodle-based Learning Management Platform (iLAP) for the Jockey Club Self-directed Learning in STEM Project (https://jcstem.cite.hku.hk/). He/She will also provide technical support, conduct training workshops, and create user guide for students and teachers in participating schools on using iLAP, and other e-learning related tools and resources.
