An exciting opportunity to join a fast moving, exciting global professional services provider in their legal services team.

You will play a leading role in liaising with the technical teams in Hong Kong predominantly and initially relating to BVI corporate entities and legal services.

You will assist with drafting, and reviewing contracts, legal opinions, board and committee resolutions and other corporate support documentation. You will be supervised by the Director of Legal Practice, BVI Legal, who will have final approval and sign off for all legal work relating to the BVI.

You will be the main point of contact between Hong Kong and the BVI in all matters of legal services to their client portfolios. You will be integral to the growth path of legal services for Vistra globally.

You will also assist in providing legal advice for daily-operations and resolutions on legal-related issues in HK. You will be asked to handle ad hoc projects from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Based in Hong Kong with occasional travel
  • To liaison with Hong Kong BVI technical teams to provide excellent client service and strong turnaround times for legal work to their BVI client base
  • To assist the legal services teams to produce a relevant precedent bank of documents
  • To prepare and review legal documents, commercial agreements, legal opinions and relevant resolutions, together with other such legal support documents as required
  • To participate and liaise internally & externally with administrators, lawyers and other professional parties on matters relating to BVI legal services;
  • To co-ordinate with overseas counterparts where necessary to ensure smooth implementation of legal services across Vistra
  • To report to Director of Legal Practice, BVI with frequent and direct exposure to members of the legal services teams in the UK

Requirements / Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess the following:

  • Qualified Lawyer with minimum 1-2 yrs of PQE and/or Senior Paralegal (1 - 2 yrs PQE)
  • Preferably with experience in BVI law, qualified to the BVI bar and/or willing to qualify to the BVI bar
  • Experience in corporate law
  • Qualified to practice in the UK or a commonwealth jurisdiction
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Result-driven candidates with strong business acumen would be advantageous
  • Ability to work independently, diligent, business-oriented, self-motivated and have a strong sense of responsibility
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent command in both Chinese and English is required Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Mandarin)
