Job Posting Details

The University is looking for an appointee to manage activities on technology dissemination and marketing / industrial collaboration / technology licensing / commercialization / entrepreneurship for the research outputs and intellectual properties (IP) of the InnoHK Research Centers (InnoHK Centers), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Clear Water Bay (CWB) campus, HKUST Guangzhou (GZ) campus and other HKUST research institutes / centers. The work location will be at the HKUST CWB campus.

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President for Research and Development (Knowledge Transfer) and the Directors of InnoHK Centers, the key responsibilities of the position include: 

  • Manage commercialization/realization for InnoHK Centers’/ HKUST’s research and KT initiatives in the specified technical areas and related disciplines in InnoHK Centers, CWB and GZ campuses, and other related Labs & Centers of HKUST;
  • Establish proactive working relationship with different research teams to understand their research outputs, identify technology commercialization opportunities and develop InnoHK Centers/ university and industry collaboration to license out InnoHK Centers’/ HKUST's IP;
  • Provide technology landscape and competitive analysis for the key development projects and support the InnoHK Centers’ Directors/ Cluster Heads of OKT to set up the commercialization strategy;
  • Establish strategic collaborations with industrial partners, government, universities and research institutions, deep-tech start-up incubators and accelerators etc.;
  • Manage technology marketing initiatives, including marketing channel development, organizing technology roadshows/events, marketing materials preparation and presentation; and
  • Support the entrepreneurial technology transfer efforts by stimulating the innovation and entrepreneurship vision of InnoHK Centers/ HKUST members to form deep-tech start-ups utilizing InnoHK Centers/ HKUST IPs with various entrepreneurial and gap funding programs.

 

Applicants should have a master's degree, preferably a Ph.D. in the area of biomedical technology, in particular, neuroscience or related disciplines with 7 years or above solid industry experience in handling technology business development, intellectual property management, technology evaluation, technology licensing, start-up formation, program management, technology evaluation and marketing. Ability for effective communication with professionals of diverse background in both industry and academia; excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); excellent communication and organizational skills; be highly motivated, proactive and a good team player, with the ability to work independently and competence at multi-tasking are required. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
