(Candidate will less experience may be considered for the position of Assistant Manager, Communications and Public Affairs)

Reporting to the Head, PR and Publicity under Communications and Public Affairs Department, the role will be responsible for implementing the PR and communications strategy for the Authority, cultivating media/influencers and partnering organisations relations to help promote the West Kowloon brand, organisation-wide venues and programmes in Hong Kong and around the world.

You will be responsible for:

  • leading and executing integrated PR and publicity plans to promote various iconic venues in particular M+, programmes and initiatives of visual arts, and West Kowloon Cultural District as a whole in Hong Kong, Mainland China and overseas;
  • driving and implementing media/KOL engagement strategies in Hong Kong and across the region; identify target media and lead media/KOL collaborations to build the brand reputations of M+ and the District;
  • organising PR events and publicity campaigns to raise profiles of M+ e.g. venue opening, and support other corporate initiatives to promote the District;
  • driving and executing PR collaborations with external stakeholders such as joint media promotions with arts and cultural programme partners or other government organisations for media maximisation;
  • managing and handling media communications and deliverables including press releases, media enquiry and interviews; organise media familiarisation visits;
  • messaging development, media handling, internal and external stakeholders’ liaison including senior management and business units in crisis communications and issues handling;
  • coaching a small team of officers, and conduct quality and budget control on PR and Communications deliverables;
  • collaborating with and manage external agencies, outsourced vendors and business partners on public relations and communications initiatives as necessary;
  • driving and executing ad-hoc communications projects when required; and
  • performing other duties commensurate with the position of Manager, PR and Publicity and performing such services from time to time as WKCDA may reasonably direct.


You should:

  • possess a University degree or above in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related discipline;
  • have at least 8 years of relevant experience with 5 years of managerial experience in public relations, media relations, crisis communications and issues management, corporate communications, events management, and internal communications;
  • have passion for arts and culture; good knowledge of visual arts is preferred;
  • have proven record and solid experience in media/KOL relations; thorough understanding about emerging media landscape including traditional mainstream and online and social media platforms in Hong Kong, PRC and overseas;
  • demonstrate ability to adopt an integrated communications approach and create breakthrough and innovative ideas to enhance the corporate image and various brands under the Authority;
  • have strong interpersonal and communications skills, good team player, multi-tasking, able to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure, creative and dynamic;
  • possess high adaptability to an environment of volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity; and
  • have excellent written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
