Where we started

The business was established in the UK in 1975 by Jack Anthony Coronna (the Jac in JacTravel) as an inbound tour operator. By 1980 JacTravel had expanded into outbound travel from the UK and travel from long haul markets into Europe. In 2002, we launched an API facility giving clients the ability to link directly to our hotels database.

JacTravel is a fast-growing company backed by private equity investment. Every year, more than 3 million satisfied passengers use our services to give them the best travel experience possible.

In March 2015, JacTravel acquired The TotalStay Group, a major accommodation provider to wholesale, retail and consumer markets.

In September 2017, JacTravel is acquired by WebBeds who has business currently operates in Europe, Middle East and Africa (MEA), North America and Asia. The business has grown from a small start-up to a global player generating more than $450 million TTV* in less than 4 years. *Annualised TTV run rate based on 1H17 financial results.

We currently have 600 staff. Our head office is in London and we have offices in Beijing, Cluj-Napoca, Dubai, Dublin, Edinburgh, Hong Kong, Larnaca, Orlando, Prague, Stockholm and Targu Mures.

We also have local representatives on the ground in Barcelona, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Chiang Mai, Delhi, Frankfurt, Gothenburg, Kuala Lumpur, Los Angeles, Madrid, Melbourne, Mexico City, Munich, New York, Palma, Paris, Sao Paulo, Toulouse, Valencia & Vancouver.

Job Purpose

To operate all FIT tasks successfully and to achieve maximum profit for the Company whilst maintaining the best possible relations with clients and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • To adhere to all procedures and system as determined by your Manager
  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain availability for On Request bookings
  • Deal with relocations on priority basis and be revenue aware
  • Assist clients and suppliers on the phone
  • Process cancellations and amendments
  • Check and process all incoming e-mails within 24 hours deadline
  • Ensure special suppliers receive weekly, or as needed, rooming lists
  • Quotes for non-contracted services
  • Create bookings for traditional clients in Travel Studio
  • Provide Emergency Cover outside office hours as required
  • Assist other members of the operations team when required
  • Monitor the Reservations email inbox and check that action is taken
  • All operations staff will be expected to work Saturdays, Sundays and Bank holidays throughout the year on a rotation basis
  • Develop product knowledge by participating in relevant FAM trips and undertaking independent visits as necessary
  • Sell additional services to clients whenever possible
  • To understand the needs of the clients and the markets in which the department is operating, obtaining this information through in-house sources, Sales and BD Managers
  • Be aware and proactive concerning issues affecting the Reservation Department
  • To complete any reasonable instruction from a superior

Person Specification

Essential

  • A solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and the Internet
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to make decisions and to work on own initiative and in a team
  • Numerical skills and common sense
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and excellent organisational skills
  • Commitment to excellence in client service
  • Good commercial acumen and strong negotiations skills
  • Fluency in English and Japanese (JLPT N2 level)
  • Polite, willing to learn, and flexible

Desirable

  • Experience within the tourism/hotel industry and have general knowledge of online segment
  • Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese language
  • Geographical Knowledge
