Part-time Consultant/Manager in English Language Testing

Centre for English and Additional Languages

The mission of the Centre for English and Additional Languages (CEAL) at Lingnan University, a leading liberal arts institution in Asia, is to enhance the English language skills of Lingnan students and to provide language support to help students succeed in their academic studies and future careers. The Centre provides compulsory and elective English courses as well as organising a range of co-curricular language activities. CEAL also offers courses in additional languages such as Korean, Japanese, Spanish, and French.

 

The appointee will be required to: (i) liaise with external test providers and the Centre in delivering tests and other protocols; (ii) answer enquiries from students and teachers; (iii) maintain and manage students’ records and results; (iv) evaluate the validity and reliability of language tests; (v) interpret and analyze test results, and make recommendations; (vi) prepare reports and marking criteria; (vii) collect feedback from stakeholders; (viii) serve as an examiner of English speaking and writing tests; and (ix) other duties deemed appropriate by the Centre’s Head.

 

General Requirements

Applicants should have: (1) a PhD degree in language testing or related area (applicants with a master’s degree in English language teaching/testing but having substantial experience in language testing will also be considered); (2) expertise and experience in language testing, quantitative analysis and/or learning analytics; (3) good interpersonal skills; and (4) preferably some experience in test/examination administration.  

 

Appointment

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be normally made on a contract of up to one year. Applications for full time appointment are also considered.
