Established by the Hong Kong Government in 1989, The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) today has developed into a young, dynamic, innovative, full-fledged university comprising 6 Schools.
 
OUHK began offering full-time programmes since 2001 and joined the Joint University Programmes Admission System (JUPAS) since 2007. Currently, the University offers about 200 programmes of studies with over 10,000 full-time and 9,000 part-time students in its 5 Schools namely School of Arts and Social Sciences, Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration, School of Education and Languages, School of Nursing and Health Studies and School of Science and Technology. In addition, there are about 2,000 full-time and 3,000 part-time students studying in Li Ka Shing School of Professional and Continuing Education (LiPACE).

Major Duties and Responsibilities
The appointees shall mainly be responsible for the following:
  • assisting and supporting the project investigator in implementing all aspects related to the research project;
  • assisting in collecting and compiling fundamental research;
  • conducting survey, interviews and linguistic experiments as well as data entry and analysis;
  • providing a wide range of administrative support to the project; and
  • carrying out other duties as assigned by Project Investigator.

 

Requirements
Applicants are expected to possess the following qualifications, experience and attributes: 

For Part-time Research Assistant:

  • a recognized Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in the area of language, education, psychology or other related disciplines; 
  • excellent written and oral communication skills in Chinese and English;
  • be competent at computer skills (e.g. MS Office using Word, Excel and SPSS);
  • ability to work independently as well as in a team; and
  • preference will be given to those with a record of working with ethnic minorities in Hong Kong. 

For Part-time Research Support Assistant:

  • current undergraduate students majoring in languages, education, psychology or a related disciplines; 
  • good command of Cantonese and English; and
  • good computer knowlegde and effective organizational skills.

 

Compensation Package
Successful candidates will be appointed on a temporary part-time contract starting from February 2020 for 6 months to 12 months renewable subject to mutual agreement. Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions.
