Reporting to the Head of School, the Principal/Vice Principal is to assist the Head of School in the overall leadership and management of the School, with specific responsibility for overseeing programme development to maintain high standards of teaching excellence, particularly reviewing the existing curriculum and develop new curricula, if required, with other senior teachers in Discovery Bay and Tung Chung to achieve coherence across two campuses and our through-train primary school.

Key responsibilities

- Dedicate to promote the mission and vision of the School, and support the mission through cooperation, regular meetings with management to formulate and implement long term goals and essential policies.
- Cultivate positive relationship with students and be approachable and accessible to them.
- Be visible and command respect in the school community and promote the School’s profile.
- Maintain and enhance the positive school climate and sense of community.
- Liaise with relevant inspectors on matters related to the School in conjunction with Head of School.
- Monitor implementation of various plans, review work progress regularly and action appropriate follow up measures.
- Ensure all students experience a broad, relevant and balanced curriculum through formal, informal and non-formal activities.
- Monitor continuing professional and career development for teaching staff.
- Foster the sharing of up-to-date professional knowledge and informed practice.
- Build connections between the School and the local communities to contribute to the wider society and its development.
- Evaluate Chinese language teachers’responsibilities.
- Oversee the administration operation along with the Head of School.
- Promote teamwork across the campuses.

 

Requirements

- A recognized degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
- Completed the Certification course for Kindergarten Principals recognised by the Hong Kong Education Bureau.
- Minimum 8 years of teaching experience in kindergarten, preferably in international schools.
- Substantial experience in school administration and curriculum development.
- Excellent command of verbal and written English and Chinese is a MUST.
- Positive, enthusiastic, self-motivated and culturally sensitive.
- Strong leadership and good resource management.
- Excellent communication skills and work ethics.
