Founded in 1973 as a registered non-profit and non-government-funded non-profit organisation, Hong Kong Youth Hostels Association (http://www.yha.org.hk) is one of the 90 national associations affiliated with Hostelling International (HI), the worldwide umbrella organisation that provides members with information covering over 4,000 youth hostels and other travel benefits. HKYHA operates 7 youth hostels across Hong Kong and currently has an individual membership of more than 30,000 people and group membership of over 600.

MISSION: to provide safe, simple, and affordable hostelling services to young people and travellers from all over the world. Our hostels also serve as educational platforms that allow travellers to broaden their horizons, to learn about different cultures, and to be in touch with nature and heritage conservation.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the purchasing of all kinds of supplies and services necessary for the operating of the Association and all YHA hostels, ensuring that these conform to the required standards of quality and quantity at the lowest possible cost, in order to cope with continuous business growth.
  • Provide purchasing expertise with implementation to achieve competitive price, favourable deals and terms and develop supplier network and long term partnership.
  • Provide one-stop procurement service including reliable and timely delivery of purchased goods to end-user hostels.
  • Centralize purchasing of materials, inventory control and list of suppliers.
  • Responsible for the Association’s procurement tendering exercises.
  • Establish and computerize procurement procedure and work flow in accordance to the Association's policies.
  • Ensure all procurement related activities are performed under open and fair competition.
  • Other ad hoc assignments.


Requirements:

  • Diploma or above in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management or related disciplines
  • Minimum 5 years' relevant work experience
  • Solid experience in setting up procurement function
  • Experience in hospitality industry preferred
  • Understanding of NGO and hospitality industry would be an advantage
  • Detail minded with good planning and organizing skills
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and presentation skills
  • Independent with excellent problem-solving ability
  • Good cost analysis knowledge
  • Strong sense of integrity and corporate governance
  • Well-versed in computer applications
  • Computerization of procurement/inventory systems experience
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, with ability to work with people at all levels of the organization
  • Immediately available
