Project Administrator (at the rank of IT Officer) (PR0297/20-21)

The Library now seeks an enthusiastic individual to join the dynamic team of Digital and Multimedia Services Section to support digital project development including the University’s Integrated Research and Information Management System (IRIMS).


The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Manage and clean research, publication and theses data using Python; 
  • Develop internal programs to facilitate data indexing performed by project/junior staff; 
  • Train and coordinate project/junior staff in terms of data development and enhancements; 
  • Develop GIS applications and data visualizations; 
  • Any other duties assigned by his/her supervisor.


Applicants should possess at least a bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science or related disciplines with 3-5 years of related experience. Online system development experience is required. Work experience in Python, MySQL, JavaScript, PHP, Google Maps APIs, and Excel is expected. Understanding of XML, JSON-LD, RDF, schema.org, SPSS, ArcGIS, and/or Tableau is a plus.


He/She should be an organised and patient person, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Good interpersonal skills and customer service attitude are required, along with a good command of English and Chinese.

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Reference salary range: HK$26,990 - HK$43,145

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
