HKIA is a professional body for the architects in Hong Kong, the running of which is governed by the Hong Kong Institute of Architects Incorporation Ordinance (Chapter 1147). HKIA is mandated to promote the architectural excellence and to raise the standard of professional architectural services provided by members. HKIA Secretariat is currently composed of around 34 staff in Hong Kong and 2 in Beijing.

The Architects Registration Ordinance (Chapter 408) is an Ordinance to provide for the registration of architects and disciplinary control of the professional activities of registered architects, and for related matters. The Architects Registration Board is a body corporate established under the Ordinance consisting ten members appointed by the HKIA Council and one member appointed by the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The Hong Kong Institute of Architects Biennale Foundation (HKIABF) and Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) have joined hands participate in the 17th Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition and the following post is open for recruitment.

 

Background

The 17thVenice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition - Hong Kong Exhibition and Response Exhibition shall take place Venice from May to November 2020, and Hong Kong in the 1st of 2nd quarter of 2021, respectively.

It is aimed to:

1. Present to the world Hong Kong's architectural and urban design with emphasis on the creative and innovative aspects in response to our unique culture, economy and topography;

2. Promote creativity and develop international perspective among the architectural profession through participation;

3. Create a favorable environment conducive to the development of architectural and urban design in Hong Kong.

Subsequent to the Exhibition in Venice, a Response Exhibition will be organized in Hong Kong. It would act as a momentous platform in promotion of Hong Kong architecture and arts to the general public.

 

Qualifications

The Project Officer/Assistant should process a recognized Degree or an Associate Degree or equivalent / higher qualifications, preferably in cultural event management, art and design, or architectural related profession. Candidates with less than 2 related working experience will be regards as Project Assistant.

 

Responsibility

To assist the Venice Biennale Architectural Exhibition Steering Committee (Steering Committee) (of the Institute- delete) on all matters related to the Institute's participation in the Hong Kong Response Exhibition, including but not limited to

  • To assist the project team in project delivery;
  • To assist the project team in organizing activities and support events to be held in Venice, Hong Kong and other places where applicable. May need to provide on-site support in Venice;
  • To coordinate with the various service providers including but not limited to event organiser, PR and production house;
  • To prepare publicity materials in coordination with the curator and PR;
  • To assist in documentation of the project;
  • To prepare papers for meeting. 
  • To assist in all matters related to the organization and management of the Exhibition, Opening Events and all related activities before the commencement and during the Response Exhibition.

 

Duration of Contract

A twelve-month contract shall commence from January 2020, to be continued by a separate Biennale related contract thereafter.
