The incumbents will take part in research and development projects of AI & Robotic technologies for local industries/organizations.
 
Responsibilities:
The appointee will provide management in research & development tasks of the centre and he/she is required to:

  • Responsible for R&D system integration and implementation including but not limited to the field of (i) Edge Computing/Robotics, (ii) Artificial Intelligence and (iii) Embedded Systems;
  • Have creative thinking of novel robotic systems (or autonomous robots) development and their executions/integrations;
  • Perform project execution e.g. prototypes/mock up samples for quick demos, preparing BoMs and estimate materials lead time for in-house/small scale production processes etc.;
  • Collect end-user requirements, coordinate project activities with different parties (including academic, private and public organizations) and monitor project progresses; and
  • Able to handle ad-hoc R&D tasks.


Requirements:
Applicants should have:

  • Master/Bachelor degree in Electrical/ Electronic/ Information Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence or related disciplines;
  • A minimum of 10 years’ work experience in aforesaid R&D areas, at least 5 years in leading technical/engineering roles e.g. Senior Engineer;
  • Experience in system design, system integration, and technical specification, in the automation industry.
  • Perform system design to select equipment/component/software/hardware for robots (and/or robotic systems) to meet project tasks; and
  • Able to work directly with the software engineers, electronic engineers, and mechanical engineers during the system development process.
  • Experience in front-end / server-side / API development.
  • Good understanding in delivering application solutions to multi-platforms.
  • Knowledge and experience in SDLC, CI/CD, version control, OOP, and design patterns is preferable.
  • Experience on Agile methodology will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience of at least one of the following technologies/applications would be an advantage:-
    • Knowledge and experience in developing automated warehouse management systems (WMS);
    • Knowledge and experience in MCU/DSP programming for mobile robots;
    • Knowledge and experience in RTOS, Cloud application developments;
    • Knowledge and experience in Robot simulation/modelling of commercial robot arms e.g. UR robot series;
    • Knowledge and experience in AGV/AMR robotic system design and developments.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in ITF or Government/University related projects is preferable;
  • Immediate available is a definite advantage;
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese including Putonghua;
  • Candidates with less experience are welcome to apply and will be considered for other positions e.g. Assistant R&D Manager.
