Ming Wai Lau Centre for Reparative Medicine, Karolinska Institutet, Hong Kong

Ming Wai Lau Centre for Reparative Medicine (MWLC) ( aims to contribute to the improvement of human health by conducting cutting-edge research in reparative medicine and related subjects, by creating a new platform for synergies between academia and innovation in Sweden and Hong Kong as well as China, and fostering future leaders in both academia and industry.

MWLC operates two nodes, one based at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden and the other in Hong Kong, located in Science Park, Shatin. The Hong Kong node includes four research groups with about 40 scientists, technicians and administrators.


Description of Research Group and Position

Dr. Linxian Li’s Laboratory ( has long interests in developing novel functional surfaces and biomaterials for clinical applications. Committed to translating new materials for medical use, the Li group focuses on engineering functional materials for medical use and developing biomolecules as therapeutics. 

A research assistant position is immediately available. Under the supervision of a Postdoctoral Researcher, the Research Assistant will assist in a variety of tasks which include preparing resources and equipment for research projects, conducting experiments, documenting and analyzing experiment results. The Research Assistant should be able to work independently and collaboratively in the group. 

The research projects will provide the opportunity for the Research Assistant to learn proper research procedures and techniques.


Qualifications / Requirements

Application is open to highly motivated junior scientists with strong background in experimental life science. Experimental skills in cell culture, ELISA, fluorescence microscopy, basic biochemical and molecular biology techniques are desirable. Experience in high-throughput screening and western blot will be considered an asset.

Applicants should have obtained a bachelor's or master's degree from a recognized institution in related disciplines.

Fluent communication skills in English (written and oral) are essential.


The Employment

This is a one-year fixed-term full-time position, with the possibility of renewal.

This assignment is located at MWLC, Hong Kong, and the employment will follow local labour laws in Hong Kong.  

A competitive remuneration package including 10% on top of basic salary (fully-taxable) intended as pension will be offered in addition to MPF employer’s contribution and medical benefits.
