Description of Research Group and Position

The current research of Assistant Professor Sijie Chen (http://ki.se/en/research/sijie-chen) aims at developing novel fluorescence-based tools and technology for biological research.

A research assistant/senior research assistant position is immediately available. The focus of our research is to develop novel fluorescence-based tools and technology for biological research.

Under the supervision of a postdoctoral researcher, the Research Assistant will assist in a variety of tasks which include preparing resources, equipment, materials for research projects, conducting experiments, documenting and analyzing experiment results. The Research Assistant should be able to work independently and collaboratively in the group.

The research project will provide the opportunity for the Research Assistant to learn proper research procedures and techniques, which may include but not limited to stem cell culture, cell imaging using confocal microscope or super-resolution microscope, bioconjugation, and fluorescence spectroscopy.

 

Qualifications / Requirements

Application is open to highly motivated junior scientists with a strong background in experimental life science or bioengineering/biomedical engineering. Experience in mammalian cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, plate reader, flow cytometry, basic biochemical and molecular biology techniques is desirable.

Candidates should have obtained a bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized institution in related disciplines.

Fluent communication skills in written and oral English are essential.

 

The Employment

This is a one-year fixed-term full-time position, with the possibility of renewal.

This assignment is located at MWLC, Hong Kong, and the employment will follow local labour laws in Hong Kong.

A competitive remuneration package including 10% on top of basic salary (fully-taxable) intended as pension will be offered in addition to MPF employer’s contribution and medical benefits.
