Department of Biology

The Department of Biology invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor in Developmental Genetics and Genomics.

Applicants should have a PhD degree in genetics, genomics, computational biology, bioinformatics, or related field, and have at least two years of postdoctoral experience with demonstrated academic record. Those with substantial experiences of analysing NGS data using Python, R, Perl or other programming language are encouraged to apply. Experience with C. elegans or other nematode species is an advantage but not required.

The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with bench biologists to study the genetic basis of hybrid incompatibilities between nematode species or the gene regulatory network of cell fate or temporal asymmetry during C. elegans embryogenesis, be able to perform both self-directed and guided work and possess excellent skills in writing manuscript and grant proposal. He/She is expected to compete for both internal and external research grants, help supervise students and teach one course per semester at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two to three years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to performance review, mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
