Vacancies of Resident Architects (RA1 & RA2) are available for the following posts for the project of Design and Construction of Queen Mary Hospital Phase 1 Main Works: 

(i) Resident Architect (RA1) to work on a construction site in Hong Kong to provide overall coordination and supervision of the architectural works of a general hospital. The Resident Architect shall be both a Registered Architect in Hong Kong and an Authorized Person-Architect as defined under the Buildings Ordinance and shall have minimum 5 years relevant site experience. 

(ii) Resident Architect (RA2) to work in secondment to the offices of Architectural

Services Department located in Queensway Government Office under the supervision and direction of the Supervising Officer. The Resident Architect shall be a Registered Architect in Hong Kong and shall have minimum 5 years working experience in local construction projects.

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

The duties and responsibilities of the Resident Architect shall include but not limited to the following:- 

  1. To watch, and inspect, to test and examine materials used and workmanship employed in the architectural works on-site, off-site, at factories or other testing laboratories, to ensure that they are complying with the specifications, drawings and construction procedure with the assistance of the site supervisory staff;
  2. To identify defective materials and workmanship in the architectural work not complying with the specification, drawings and construction procedure, and to coordinate appropriate tests on the defective architectural work;
  3. To communicate with the Architectural Designer, the Supervising Officer of Architectural Services Department, and site supervisory staffs on architectural work;
  4. To resolve on site architectural difficulties arising from unforeseen circumstances to allow the architectural works to progress with minimum disruption, and in case of action involving changes to approved design, consult the Architectural Designer, the Supervising Officer of Architectural Services Department or his representatives;
  5. To report to the Architectural Designer, the Supervising Officer of Architectural Services Department or his representatives any matters of unusual aspect for direction;
  6. To maintain site record on architectural work and to coordinate the checking of architectural works on-site, off-site, at factories or other testing laboratories with the assistance of site supervisory staff;
  7. To monitor the progress and to produce timely information in advance of construction to avoid delay;
  8. To coordinate builder’s works requirements in connection to building services and deal with the consequential changes to architectural design and to produce sketch plans and working drawings;
  9. To submit for approval any architectural details, in particular any temporary work as required in the Contract;
  10. To attend regular and ad hoc meetings, and prepare meeting minutes as required;
  11. To assist the Architectural Designer, the Supervising Officer of Architectural Services Department or his representatives in the investigation and to prepare report on the acceptable or otherwise the use of materials;
  12. To prepare design, estimate and specification in collaboration with allied disciplines;
  13. To carry out the site safety management functions under the Authorized Person stream as outlined in the Technical Memorandum for Supervision Plans 2009 and detailed in the Code of Practice for Site Safety Supervision 2009; and
  14. To undertake any other duties in connection with site construction activities.
