Department of Biology

BSc (Hons) in Bioresource & Agricultural Science is a new and unique major programme of the Department with the first intake in September 2019. It is the first professional, multi-disciplinary degree programme in Hong Kong that explores the key issues shaping the outlook of agricultural science and management of bioresources from the perspective of sustainability.

Specializing in Agriculture and/or Environment, the appointees are expected to:

-  assist in teaching and conducting demonstration in practical classes;

-  provide technical support to teaching staff;

-  establish a new teaching laboratory in soil science and crop management;

-  maintain and operate a range of instruments (including inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer, nutrient flow injection analyser and soil analytical equipment);

-  maintain greenhouse operation and plant growth experiments; and

-  undertake administrative duties. 

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Biology or Environmental Science, with specialty in soil and crop science, soil fertility and plant growth, environmental instrumentation, or environmental conservation. Practical experience in soil monitoring, composting, greenhouse and farm operations is an advantage.

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.
