Scientific Officer (Ref. 21061805)
[Appointment period: twelve months] 

The appointee will be required to: 

(a) assist in teaching tutorials and practicums of Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology and other life science subjects for undergraduates and postgraduates;

(b) supervise and uphold the smooth running and maintenance of the state-of-the-art major instruments, especially various types of mass spectrometers;

(c) assist in carrying out research in mass spectrometry, proteomics, metabolomics or other related fields;

(d) train students and research personnel to operate selected major instruments;

(e) assist in the teaching of mass spectrometry, proteomics and metabolomics, or related disciplines;

(f) provide support in marketing and promotional activities of the Department and the University; and

(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates.

The appointee will be required to perform duties in/travel to the departmental laboratories in Shenzhen.


Applicants should have:

(a) a doctoral degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology or related disciplines;

(b) at least three years’ relevant experience in operation of major instruments in mass spectrometry, proteomics or metabolomics;

(c) experience in providing support for teaching and research in related fields;

(d) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; and

(e) strong analytical skills, good interpersonal and communication skills.
