The Position

Vice President based in the Hong Kong office.

SVC seeks a mid-career professional to serve in a key execution role, who also has the ability to provide day-to-day client and team leadership and represent the firm with other advisors. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on a larger role within the office and across the firm.

Specific Responsibilities

In keeping with SVC’s collaborative model, this professional will work on accounts across the firm, as well as those based in Hong Kong.  Likewise, he/she will serve as a mentor and a role model for other colleagues in the Hong Kong office and across SVC’s global platform.  

This individual will: 

  • Serve as the account project manager assigning responsibilities and ensuring activities are completed on-time and providing strategic and tactical support to senior team members. 
  • Be the focal point for information on his/her accounts, knowing everything that is going on and anticipating the client and team’s needs.
  • Be responsible developing materials (for example, strategic communications plans, press releases, investor presentations, talking points, Q&A documents, etc.) and managing the review and editing process.
  • Build and manage media relationships, including responding to inbound inquires.
  • Serve as a role model for other account staff by leading through actions – being prepared, proactive and available, with a “can do” attitude.
  • Be able to engage directly with clients and advisors, representing SVC’s recommendations or position on issues that have a financial, brand and/or business impact.
  • Support new business opportunities in the market and work to strengthen and expand existing client relationships with compelling ideas and excellent service.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues throughout the firm.

 

The Person

The ideal candidate must be a strategic thinker with strong writing and analytical skills, along with the ability to present complex data within the framework of a clear and compelling story.  While this professional may come from any number of environments, he/she will have experience working in fast-paced, high profile environments where the ability to assess complex situations and make sound judgments is essential. 

An understanding of global financial markets and regulatory dynamics and geopolitical issues is important.  A background in corporate communications (in-house or agency), investor relations, investment banking, journalism, law, or management consulting is valuable.  Relevant work experience in mainland China is a priority, as well as experience working with major corporations, financial institutions and investment firms in Hong Kong, mainland China and across Asia-Pacific is valuable. 

Additional qualifications and experience include:

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in finance, communications, or related field.
  • Being highly collaborative, with strong communications skills, and able to work well in teams and thrive in a non-hierarchical environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, and an ability to balance multiple assignments and client situations without dropping the ball.
  • Client focused, with a high bar for quality and results. 
  • The confidence and presence to work effectively at high levels and in high-stakes situations.
  • A “roll-up your sleeves” attitude, without concern for getting the credit.  Driven by success of the effort versus personal ego.
  • Well-rounded, adaptable and detailed-oriented individual comfortable working through challenges.
  • Quick learner, who is prepared to jump in at a moment’s notice.
  • Solid judgment and the capacity to accurately assess complicated situations and ask the right questions. 
  • A sense of urgency and creative persistence along with a willingness to go the extra mile.
  • The ability to manage and be responsible for junior level staff. 
  • Able to embrace and embody the SVC value proposition, which combines total candor with sophisticated judgement gained through experience.
  • Highly motivated and calm under pressure.
  • A university degree with an outstanding academic record required.
