RESPONSIBILITIES

 
Sales and Profit

  • To achieve seasonal sales and profit targets based on the seasonal business plan
  • To negotiate with suppliers in a tough but fair manner to secure exclusive ranges / brands and optimize the profit margin
  • To monitor closely on a detailed OTB system controlling sales and stock levels in order to maintain seasonal target
  • To work with Buyers and Assistant Buyers to establish a balanced range of merchandise suited to the customer profile of store
  • To be proactive in understanding the competition, and take action to minimize any loss of Lane Crawford market share
  • To determine pricing strategies for products/suppliers based on market reviews, competitor positions, supplier financials, etc.
  • To fully understand supplier cost structure and logistics costs. Is able to identify value added opportunities for Lane Crawford as appropriate
  • To provide monthly updates to relevant parties on key costs and expenses related to buying
  • To ensure that staff are utilising Omni-channel technology to encourage customers to shop on and off line, maximizing sales at every opportunity

Merchandise Management

  • To be innovative and forecast upcoming trends by attending worldwide exhibitions on regular basis and read international journals and lifestyle publications
  • To be familiar with both local and overseas market situations and trends
  • To source newness and maintain a leading position in the market of products in its own category
  • To ensure timely delivery of merchandise and ensure consistent quality and quantity to stores
  • To monitor sell-through and deliveries of all suppliers and take decisive action to deal with their performance.

Relationship Management

  • To work closely with Creative, Marketing & Communications and Visual Merchandise to deliver the correct image to the end customer through the correct channels
  • To work closely with warehouse to maintain a timely delivery to stores
  • To demonstrate a desire to understand and communicate the latest trends and fashion to customers and staff
  • To manage the business relationship with the suppliers involved in their business category to maximize sales and GP$ potential
  • To provide accurate knowledge and information to sales staff for them to communicate with the customers
  • To train sales staff in all aspects of their merchandise including product knowledge and visual presentation
  • To fully understand and be able to communicate our Omni-channel business model, ensuring all staff understand the need for a seamless customer experience, on and off line

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree holder with a minimum 5-8 years of buying experience in retail industry, preferably with luxury Home & Lifestyle product experience
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills with strong ability to communicate with all related parties including senior management and vendors effectively
  • Strong analytical ability and proficiency in Microsoft applications
  • Good command in both written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin
