Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society.

The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Senior Compliance Officer

The Department
Our Legal & Compliance Division supports a full range of legal support and services on legal issues relating to business and operations of the Club. Within the division, the Compliance Department ensures that the Club has effective systems of control to ensure compliance with all relevant rules and regulations of the regulatory bodies. The function will principally be responsible for assisting with the implementation of the Club’s Compliance Framework for the Club’s key legal and regulatory compliance areas.

The Job

You will:

  • Work with various business units in reviewing their licence applications and submission to governmental authorities
  • Assist business units in reviewing their licence applications and submission to governmental authorities
  • Liaise and prepare responses to regulators/ authorities in relation to licence applications
  • Maintain a record of the Club’s licences and providing status reports on the licences
  • Manage the Club’s Document Management System (DMS) including responding to business units’ enquiries regarding the DMS, providing regular trainings, monitor the use of the DMS and working with IT for any system upgrades and issues
  • Assist with the handling of compliance incidents, liaising with regulators such as the Privacy Commissioner, and preparing incident reports
  • Assist with compliance training including preparation of training materials and conducting training
  • Assist the Compliance Department in preparing meeting agenda and minutes for various committees
  • Provide advice and guidance to business units on compliance matters
  • Conduct legal research for matters related to the Club’s operations and new initiatives
  • Assist Compliance Department management with ad-hoc project and administrative work as directed


About You
You should have:

  • Degree holder in Law preferred, or Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related disciplines with an interest in developing a career in Compliance
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing licences for large conglomerates Experience in applying for operational licences such as liquor licences, business registration licences, club licences would be an advantage
  • Experience in managing and using document management systems; conducing trainings and presentations
  • Organised with commercial acumen
  • Strong project management and presentation skills; strong analytical ability to make judgement
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Independent thinking, the ability to adapt and learn quickly, and trouble-shoot problems independently
  • Details oriented and a good team player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills both in Chinese and English


Terms of Employment
