Job brief

  • We are currently seeking a thorough and insightful Assistant Cost Controller to assist Senior Cost Controller to oversee cost management for our projects. You tracks, analyzes and controls the costs associated with a project, such as large-scale construction projects where there are multiple subcontractors, inspectors and suppliers who all need paying. Day-to-day, you have to forecast expenditures, plan budgets, classify costs by type, track man-hours allocated to a project, verifying supplier invoices and managing change events that impact the budget.  In this role, you will work collaboratively with various department managers to analyze costs, assess vendor relationships, and maximize profitability. To succeed in this position, you will demonstrate an aptitude for efficiency, problem solving, and resourcefulness, with a deep commitment to the bottom line without compromising quality.     

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible to control and monitor project total expenditure including verifying and checking of invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors and subcontractors to ensure that all project expenditures are captured and properly recorded
  • Provide planning and cost controlling support for projects which includes variation reporting, monitoring of milestone progress to the preparation of customer billing processes, etc
  • Perform and manage project activity scheduling and monitoring
  • Ensure effective project implementation and utilize productive reports from the creation of WBS with the use of project management system to monitor the status of all purchases, invoicing and delivery up to the closure of the project.
  • Perform project costing related reporting to the team and management’s review on a monthly basis to ensure that expenditures are kept within the project budget
  • Provide cost control and planning advice to project team as and when required
  • Undertake any other ad-hoc duties as required.

Requirements

  • Diploma or above in relevant disciplines, preferably Project Management or Cost Control related training.
  • Strong analytical and numerical sense; proficiency in MS Excel
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and meticulous
  • Fast learner with ability to work well under stress.
  • Candidates with more experience and qualification may be considered for the post of Cost Controller
