We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Full Stack Developer, Fixed Income Technology.

In this role, you will

  • Fixed Income and Balance Sheet Management IT at HSBC is a global asset class covering Front to Back IT services for 4 main business lines BSM, Rates, Credit and Emerging Markets. It is a global team of over 400 people with a strong presence in London, Hong Kong, New York, Paris, Toronto, Guangzhou, Pune and Bangalore. The team is responsible for 
  • Pre trade systems allowing orders, market data streaming, market negotiations, algo trading, live risk 
  • A suite of primary trading systems, which support the trading and risk management capabilities of the desks, as well as all upstream and downstream connectivity and data feeds for all business functions
  • The generation of the PnL and risk numbers for the Fixed Income and BSM business
  • Tools which allow display and enrichment of data produced by relevant systems
  • To be the major team member in Risk and PnL team in HK to build the strategic solution for Fixed Income for Risk and Pnl primary
  • To be in the Risk and PnL team to build applications which provides traders with a UI for trade capture, blotters, pricing, risk etc.
  • To support business in the region for Risk and PnL related requests.
  • Develop the core product as a part of an international team. The role includes a hands on element
  • Build rapport with the Equities Falcon team on which Skyfall is based
  • Assist with the demise of legacy tools that Skyfall will replace
  • Build and maintain the global infrastructure environment as a part of a small team
  • Be part of the global Risk and PnL team to support global Fixed Income and BSM business 

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements

  • HSBC is a very large and distributed organization where it is important to learn to navigate hurdles and acquire some autonomy
  • Delivering projects strategically can be difficult in an environment used to tactical delivery but this must be achieved
  • Decision making on strategy can be poor at HSBC and some flexibility and negotiating skills are required along with perseverance
  • Compliance with HSBC Group standards, whilst accommodating specific project requirements. There are a large number of procedures and policies which require adherence or appropriate challenge
  • Proven background in delivering front end tools in investment banking
  • Strong UI experience
  • Strong understanding of risk and PnL in any asset class
  • Strong devops approach
  • Cloud aware
  • Scala and Javascript hands-on experience
  • Strong unix or linux background
  • Comfortable talking direct to Trading staff
  • Experience of managing small off shore development teams
  • Ability to navigate in an international environment
  • Strong project management capabilities. Able to manage and head off risk and issues
  • Seeks solutions and is creative with it. Confronts blocking issues
  • Experience of navigating through the different key areas supporting the operational day to day of a trading floor including Front Office, Sales, Operations, Finance, Product Control, Credit and Market Risks, Regulatory
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills. Able to communicate with the relevant level of details to internal and external HSBC parties
  • Engineering capabilities to value, improve, challenge any technical solution
  • Functional knowledge of Fixed income and BSM products
  • Good interpersonal skills, well organised and with and ability to multitask and switch context easily
