Job Accountabilities:  

  • Leads and oversees the Lending Services Department in Hong Kong ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions

  • As the Alternate Chief Executive, the incumbent is responsible to carry out the oversight and governance of all business in Scotiabank (Hong Kong) Limited and Hong Kong Branch where the Chief Executive is precluded by illness, absence from Hong Kong or any other causes form carrying our his / her functions as the Chief Executive

  • Act as SFC Manager-in-Charge for the Operational Control & Review, General Office Administration for Scotiatrust (Asia) Ltd and BNS Securities (HK) Ltd per SFC requirements

  • Act as Director in ScotiaNominees HK Limited

  • Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct

  • Provide effective leadership to the team and act as a subject matter expert in liaising between front office and back office as well as other branches through providing direction to the team on all trade finance related products and of those policies and procedures necessary to respond appropriately to customer requirements

  • Being vigilant on AML / KYC related issues, sanctions, high risk countries and conduct Due Diligence where appropriate to safeguard the interest of the Bank

  • Achieving operational effectiveness & work life balance for both Trade Finance & Loan Operation department through efficient distribution of work load

  • Assist in the development and growth of trade finance & loans related business by: 

    • Providing On-site assistance during marketing calls with Credit & Marketing staff to potential trade finance customers

    • Providing MIS information / reports on trade transactions volumes, revenue (interest and non-interest), assets, customer activities

    • Develop KPI (Key Performance Indicators) and KRI (Key Risk Indicators) 

    • Staff development through coaching, monitoring, and regular appraisals. Ensuring that their views are taken seriously and being given the opportunity to develop and progress within the bank

    • Participate in review and sourcing of Trade Finance & loans systems, contribute to Request for Proposal (RFO) requirements, liaise with Vendors, be a lead in coordinating business / users requirements, system implementation, UAT etc. Conduct post-implementation review on system and provide feedback for future enhancements

    • Act as coordinator for Global Wholesale Operation HK to handle the enquiries and requirements of regulatory bodies

    • Participate as ALCO member in Asset/Liability Management Committee through attending the Greater China asset/liability management meeting and reviewing that the respective unit's asset I liability requirements are managed in the most effective way

    • Provide support, through a Service Level Agreement, for the effective and efficient Trade Finance Operations of Scotiabank (Hong Kong) Limited

 

Skills and Qualifications:  

  • Tertiary Level on related discipline in Finance & Accounting, Management Studies 

  • At least 15 years working experience in trade finance area 

  • Excellent knowledge of Bank policies and procedures with specific knowledge of all trade finance & loans related products 

  • Strong leadership, good communication skills to deal with customers and staff as well as strong supervisory/motivational and organizational abilities to effectively utilize staff in servicing customers and processing of work 

  • Knowledge of AML /ATF and other regulatory requirements across the countries supported to implement sound risk management practices and identify control gaps
