Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society.

Senior Stables Operations & Safety Officer

The Department
The Dual Site Stables Operations and Owners Services Department manages and cares for in excess of 1200 thoroughbreds in training and races. Currently, there are 22 Trainers licensed to train horses. First-class race meetings are held on most Wednesday nights and weekends between September through to July. Owners Relationship Team is a dedicated team offers a wide range of services to horse owners who are the backbone of the racing industry, on both race days and non-race days. The team is responsible to assist horse owners in all ownership matters throughout their horse ownership journey. In order to build a stronger bonding between the Club and Owners, better CRM and a number of relationship building events will be organized in a racing season to maximize optimal result.

The Job
You will:

  • Monitor and ensure the daily operations of stables are in compliance with relevant OSH Legislation in Hong Kong. Conduct risk assessment and providing recommendations for OSH improvements.
  • Promote OSH awareness among staff by organizing or conducting regular training / workshops / seminars / programs and publishing relevant information through Club’s various channels.
  • Conduct accident / incident investigations and recommend corrective and preventive measures to ensure compliance with OSH legislation. Conduct risk assessments and OSH inspection to ensure legal compliance.
  • Assist in monitoring the operations of Saddlery Workshop, stock keeping and procurement of stock items for the workshop.
  • Assist in procurement of stables supplies, regular review on the quality of supplies / suppliers and gather feedbacks from users, follow up and report if there is any deficiency on product safety.
  • Liaise with the Racing Facility Team on implementation of maintenance programmes or enhancement programmes in stables to ensure that stables facilities / equipment are maintained in a safe and best possible condition at all times based on the Service Level Agreement.
  • Attend race day duty on regular basis to ensure a smooth race day operation, and track work duties as and when required.
  • Any other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor or his/her delegates.

About You
You should have:

  • University degree.
  • Solid & practical 5 years or above working experience, preferably in equine industry
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Putonghua
  • Has a passion in the horses racing industry.

Terms of employment
The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
