Senior Technical Manager

Applications are invited for appointments as Senior Technical Manager (2 posts) in the Maintenance and Operations Unit of the Estates Office (Ref.: 503996), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis.

Applicants should possess a University degree in Facilities Management/Surveying/Building Services/Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with at least 10 years’ post-qualification work experience in facilities management and at least 5 years’ supervisory experience in project management, and a proven track record on capital projects and/or major alteration/renovation works in the higher education/medical sector.  They should be Certified Facility Manager of International Facility Management Association or Corporate Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (Electrical/Mechanical/Building Services discipline) elected after December 5, 1975, or equivalent.  Possession of a valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card) issued in accordance with Chapter 59 of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance (i.e. by attending the relevant safety training courses which are recognized by the Commissioner for Labour) or equivalent is a must.  They should also be proactive, able to work independently; and have a strong sense of responsibility.  Good leadership and computer knowledge; and planning, organizational and analytical skills are also essential qualities.

The appointees will lead a team of technical staff in dealing with campus facilities repair and maintenance matters; and oversee the budget and quality control of campus facilities management, staff quarters facilities, system improvement projects and renovation projects.  They will also be responsible for identifying sustainability risks and appropriate mitigation measures, and highlighting any opportunities to increase the University’s sustainability credentials.  They may be required to work shifts, overtime and on public holidays subject to prior arrangement.  Those who have responded to the previous advertisement (Ref.: 503548) need not re-apply. 

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
