The School of Continuing Education is one of the eight Faculties/Schools/Academy of the University and is a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong. With the support of EDB Quality Enhancement Support Scheme (QESS) Fund, the School will launch a project, “One Stop Service for Students with Special Education Needs” to foster an inclusive, positive and respectful culture in the campuses and coordinate a centralised one-stop shop of resources to provide support service to students with SEN. Application is now invited for the following position:  

Student Development Officer (PR0080/20-21)

The project is looking for an appointee to assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in the project co-ordination and implementation.

The major duties of the appointee include (a) co-ordinating learning-related support to students with special education needs (SEN); (b) developing a centralized database of SEN students of the School; (c) providing resources to SEN students on their further studies and career preparation; (d) organizing inclusion education activities/training on campuses for staff and students; (e) co-ordinating the publicity and managing communication platforms such as webpage; (f) co-ordinating and liaising with relevant parties on support plan to SEN students; and (g) preparing relevant project progress reports.


  • A recognized degree with at least 3 years of working experience in providing support to SEN students;
  • Solid knowledge of project management, social media platforms and analytic technique;
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Chinese and English Word Processing;
  • Strong data interpretation and reporting skills;
  • Organized, detail-minded and highly self-motivated, with good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Good team spirit with multi-tasking skills and be able to work independently; and
  • Knowledge of and experience in providing related support to SEN students and organizing student affairs related workshops / activities will be a definite advantage.

Duration of the project: 2 years from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2022

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed term contract of two-year commencing in January 2021 until 31 December 2022. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The appointee will be required to serve on both the Shatin Shek Mun Campus and Kowloon Tong Campus.
