Teaching Fellow

The Office of Service-Learning (OSL) is looking for an innovative and visionary trailblazer to develop new programmes and funding opportunities to advance Service-Learning (S-L) at Lingnan. S-L at Lingnan is supported by a vibrant academic community that is enthusiastic about empowering students to apply their knowledge to drive innovation, growth and social prosperity for global impact. OSL supports about 50 local S-L courses during Fall and Spring terms and collaborates with top universities around the world to offer global S-L experiences in more than 5 countries in Summer every year. The Teaching Fellow is expected to provide leadership and academic inputs to ensure the credit-bearing S-L Programme meets highest academic standard through strategic design and implementation of stimulating projects, research, workshops, events and overseas academic activities.

The appointee will work closely with the Director to carry out the following duties:
(a) providing leadership, management, and resources to advance S-L by enhancing inter-disciplinary S-L opportunities, international programmes, cross-sector collaborations, faculty engagement, and international student involvement;
(b) developing strategic partnership with local and international stakeholders for furthering student learning and social impact;
(c) constructing high-impact proposals for attracting local and international funds;
(d) coordinating with faculty to experiment and incorporate new learning elements, such as UG research, MOOC, blended learning, into S-L;
(e) providing academic input and leadership for developing appropriate metrics for evaluating programme impacts and execution plans to incorporate innovation and entrepreneurship education into S-L;
(f) leading the development of creative and effective learning material (online and printed) for S-L;
(g) developing effective strategies to communicate student learning and programme impacts to stakeholders;
(h) working with the teaching team to design and deliver experimental S-L courses;
(i) managing financial resources for optimal output and accountability; and
(j) performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisors.

Requirements: (i) a recognized full-time Master or PhD from reputable universities, with at least 6 years’ relevant experience in the tertiary education sector, government, private foundation, corporates, and major NGO; (ii) excellent command of written and spoken English; (iii) outstanding track record of grant applications; (iv) good analytical skill to perform administrative duties independently, efficiently and under tight working schedule; (v) high competency in MS office and Teams; (vi) good knowledge of online teaching platform and international course development; (vii) extensive international exposure; (viii) proactive working attitude with good interpersonal, project management and communication skills; and (ix) genuine interest in student development and social services.

Successful candidate will be working in a team of 7 nationalities, speaking 8 different languages, and with diverse expertise from science to social sciences, engineering to education, and management to marketing. Most of the team members have international work or academic experience, 5 members received full-time PhD training from world top 50 universities. Preference will be given to candidates with PhD, outstanding track record of grant applications and extensive international exposure. Good knowledge of Service-Learning, liberal arts education, innovation and entrepreneurship education will be advantageous. Candidates with less/more experience will also be considered for appointment at a relevant rank.

Salary and Fringe Benefits
The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
