The Role

FDM is looking to expand its Training Division in Hong Kong to meet rapidly growing client demand. There is an opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Technical IT Trainer with proven commercial experience in software development to join our training team in FDM’s Hong Kong Academy. The role will predominantly involve training the latest pool of talented graduates, helping shape and develop their future by providing the skills they need to succeed as Technical Consultants. You will be working in a team of talented individuals, utilising your industry knowledge and sharing it with the future generation.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Delivering Technical training modules effectively and to a high standard
  • Assessing and grading trainee work
  • Providing feedback to trainees
  • Providing coaching and support to trainees
  • Any other ad hoc duties as required

 

Essential Criteria 

  • 3 years commercial experience in Software Development with Object Orientated languages
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proactive approach to learning new technologies to broaden coverage of existing technical modules
  • Good level of spoken and written English
  • Willingness to travel to China

 

Desirable Criteria (not essential) 

  • Experience in AGILE delivery is a plus (TDD, BDD)
  • Experience using a UNIX based OS and some shell scripting
  • Experience with any relational database languages (Oracle SQL preferred
  • Experience with Java frameworks e.g. Spring, JPA, JDBC, Java Enterprise Edition (Servlets)
  • Experience with web technologies HTML 5, CSS, Javascript, JSON/JQuery, JSP
  • Experience with Continuous integration tools such as Jenkins
  • Experience with source control tools such as Git or SVN
  • Previous IT training experience
