We also run shops in Newmarket and Ayr, having acquired the Scottish Merchants Whighams of Ayr in 1994. Corney & Barrow currently holds two Royal Warrants, as suppliers to HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH The Prince of Wales. Corney & Barrow Asia is now recruiting for a new sales representative for its private accounts team, to support its development in Hong Kong. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in, and knowledge of, the wine industry, with relevant qualifications. The ideal candidate will also have at least 1 year experience working within wine sales in Hong Kong and will be required to drive wine sales to private customers located in Hong Kong and South East Asia, based on agreed targets.

Trade Sales Manager (Wine Merchants)

ROLE SUMMARY

DRIVE WINE SALES TO TRADE/ON-TRADE CUSTOMERS LOCATED IN HONG KONG AND SOUTH EAST ASIA BASED ON AGREED SALES & GP TARGETS

REPORTING TO

GENERAL MANAGER, HONG KONG

SCOPE INDICATORS :

DEVELOP NEW BUSINESS and  

MANAGEMENT OF PORTFOLIO OF EXISTING CLIENTS 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES;

  • Managing clients within Hong Kong & Macau
  • Managing and motivating a team of 2 sales representatives
  • Meeting monthly turnover and profit targets
  • Meeting new business targets
  • Work with the Marketing Department on company-wide projects and executing local campaigns, events, trade shows, wine tastings and wine dinners
  • Execute the Corney & Barrow strategy independently and lead the Trade/On-Trade team to achieve the company’s targets
  • Meeting interim targets on offers and company initiatives
  • Identify, evaluate and pursue new sales opportunities 
  • Demonstrate initiative to constantly create ways to target new customers and inspire your team to do the same
  • Manage and develop individual portfolio of clients
  • Understand and become knowledgeable on the portfolio of exclusive producers 
  • Represent Corney & Barrow in an appropriate manner at all time
  • Enthuse the company values and ethics and communicate them to clients

 

Competencies and Experience;

  • Strong experience within the On-Trade sector in Hong Kong
  • Strong experience in selling exclusive/agency wines
  • Proven track record of effectively managing a team
  • Strong customer service management
  • Experience organising and handling visits for wine producers
  • Sound financial acumen and understanding of sales figures to be able to accurately forecast sales and depletion, as well as manage an inventory
  • Assume responsibility for sales budgeting, calculating margins, evaluate all expenses against profitability
  • Proven track record for achieving sales target
  • Proven track record in delivering a brand budget
  • Able to maximise A&P funds to sell wines efficiently
  • Able to create reports and communicate at senior level
  • Team player
  • Able to work efficiently with the marketing and private sales teams to arrange promotional programs
  • Required to act with the highest level of integrity
  • Good knowledge in wine across the major international vineyards
  • WSET advanced certificate desirable
