Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society.

The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community and supports the Government in combatting illegal gambling. In 2019/20, the Club made a record return to the Government of HK$19.9 billion in duty and profits tax and contributed HK$0.8 billion to the Lotteries Fund. Treasury Officer
 

The Department

The Treasury Department oversees the Club's short-term financial assets and liquidity, including cashflow management, derivatives and debt instruments. Our department also takes account of the funding operations supporting the Club’s horseracing activities on racedays. With the Club growing business demands to meet with customer needs, Treasury is playing an expanded and increasingly proactive role in providing quality services to all stakeholders. Currently, we are looking for a self-motivated individual to join the team.

The Job
You will:

  • assist the settlement of all in-house securities/money market transactions and the clearing of capital contributions/distributions clearings on the Club’s external investments
  • arrange the payments arising from treasury activities/ commingling/ vendors and suppliers in accordance with the Club’s established procedures
  • manage the FPS transactions for the Club’s wagering activities and daily cash flow operation
  • liaise with the banks and internal parties on all matters relating to settlement, including tracers, settlement, confirmation of balances and general correspondences
  • support the administration of Treasury systems and to participate in the implementation and system upgrading projects
  • participate in the treasury process automation projects
  • co-ordinate the set-up of new bank accounts and e-banking platforms
  • maintain a database of the Club’s bank accounts and be responsible for regular confirmation with subsidiaries on addition or deletion of bank accounts
  • manage all the Club’s e-banking platforms
  • provide support on the KYC and AML documentation from banks in order to meet with the compliance requirements
  • uphold an effective control on various bank account balances as well as ledger balances
  • regularly update the Treasury workflows, guidelines and policies ensuring all the key operational controls are observed and standard procedures properly complied with
  • perform the month-end closing and account reconciliation
  • prepare the year-end audit schedules for in-house portfolio and arrange bank confirmations
  • perform ad hoc treasury duties and administrative work related to the Club’s core businesses
  • actively engage in other financial process improvement and cultural transformation projects

About You
You should have:

  • completed an university degree in relevant disciplines. A professional qualification in accounting or treasury is a plus.
  • at least 5 years’ post qualification experience in the settlement functions gained from sizable corporations or financial institutions
  • hands-on experience in e-banking systems and treasury management systems will be a strong advantage 
  • prior experience in settlement, compliance, cash management or middle office is highly preferred. Knowledge of local and international financial markets is a pre-requisite
  • ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure 
  • strong analytical and organization skills 
  • good communication skills in both spoken and written English and Chinese
