很久以前，腦海中的前會長黃比先生 (Wong Bay, Peter) 是在房屋署做 Building Surveying 有關的工作，今次的專訪卻是在他退休後的新崗位香港大學當教學的辦公室內進行，將他幾十年經驗這種我視為非物質文化遺產用另一種方式傳遞給下一代。Peter 覺得測量在整個建築房地產專業中訓練的取向是比較〝通才〞教育，其實頗適合本科生在日後出路有很大的彈性。據他的兒子子才 (Castor) 告訴我，父親沒有怎樣影響他的選擇，亦十分尊重當年視他為一位已近二十歲的成年人朋友(而不是孩子) 的決定。其實很多父母親能看見兒女能健康成長、有一行專業和獨立能力去照顧自己已經很心滿意足。Castor 之前也考慮過修讀 Law 或 Architecture，坦言也承認有時我們若沒有特定的喜好下要選擇的話，就會按自己的性格、能力和興趣去作取捨。在大學三年的學習，加上當時正歷亞洲金融風暴的前後，市場令自己更能認清自己的所需，眨眼十多年，也成為負責 valuation 比較多的產業測量師了。可能大家都好奇地想為什麼 Castor 不繼承父鉢去當建築測量師呢，會否因考慮到其他人怎樣看而有所權衡呢？後來發覺我想多了，原因很簡單，他在香港大學的訓練讓他喜歡計數的潛能發掘出來！Peter 認為現在所謂專業人士都需要有〝通才〞的知識，隨着社會的要求改變，以往的硬性行業的分工界線已不再那麼死板。

三月一日中午，宋漢光先生約我吃素菜做訪問，當日是農曆初一，善眾特別多，而作為佛教徒的他亦已茹素多年。宋先生憶述加入土地測量行業的“ 因緣”。他說在郵政局的工作有點悶，想找一些戶外動態的工種，恰巧有土地測量員工作，他便加入了工務局。後來有機會赴英國進修，學成回來便正式從事測量專業，直至一年前才離開政府的工作崗位，享受精采的退休生活。宋文軒(Kevin) 現正就讀香港理工大學土地測量及訊息管理課程，其實他的理科根底不俗，原先在英國中學畢業時曾考慮留在當地唸有關工程的科目繼續體驗生活。是什麼原因令 Kevin 放棄已適應了五年多的自由生活而重回香港及父母的懷抱呢？答案簡單至極，那就是用錢也買不來和家人的寶貴相處時間！我不是低估年輕人對傳統價值重視的熱切，而是文軒還是在唸第一個學位時已懂得珍惜此道，我相信宋先生一定在兒子成長的過程中循循善誘，下了不少時間心機研究實踐，才令兒子有這樣的想法。

筆者雖然並非專門從事HR工作，但近幾年在會計師樓負責過自己部門內的數十次的招聘面試，由fresh graduates到experienced hires都有。所以可在此分享一些與求職者會面的經驗。 通常來面試的Junior人數比較多，而且CV的內容都大同小異，多半是剛畢業的學業成績記錄及其相關的課外活動或兼職工作經驗，要在芸芸大海之中找到一個突出的求職者面試其實已經很難。 與這些求職者會面，一般所花的時間都比較長，包括小組面試及個人面試，「第一感覺」的比重也相當高。比較起來，熱誠的工作態度及靈活的處事方式比起Transcript 上會計科成績攞A+更加重要。因為這類的同事，會事事積極進取，在忙碌的工作中也能保持著穩定的情緒面對挑戰。 至於experienced hires，在筆者而言，對工作熱誠仍然是必不可少的。其次看重的是有否具備行業的觸覺及領導才能。行業觸覺是行業知識的更高層次水平，有行業知識，才能建立行業觸覺。即使面對從未遇過的情況(顧問工作時有發生)，仍能以既有的知識和獨立的判斷力去解決問題。另外，我們的工作都是按項目形式分小組並需於短期內完成，是否具有領導才能及相關經驗(例如管理過多少同事)亦是關鍵所在。適當地分配工作及知人善任，做事才會更有效率。
