ASSISTANT MERCHANDISING MANAGER – Fashion Leather Handbag - European Premium Fashion Group | Hong Kong Sourcing Office (Mongkok)

COMPANY OVERVIEW

• We are a European premium fashion group with three international fashion brands. The brands are known for their distinctive design, contemporary style, lifestyle fashion, and fashion accessories. Our products are sold in international markets and are recognized for their strong brand identity, modern design, and high quality.

• Our Hong Kong office is the group’s sourcing and production office. We work closely with the European headquarters and vendor factories, mainly located in Guangzhou, to support the development and production of fashion handbags for international markets.

• The Hong Kong office focuses mainly on fashion handbags, particularly leather handbags, and related fashion accessories. Our responsibilities include sourcing, product-development coordination, merchandising, production follow-up, quality coordination, and vendor management.

ROLE MISSION

• To manage the complete merchandising and production process for fashion handbags, mainly leather handbags, from product-development coordination through to finished-goods delivery across three international premium fashion brands.

ROLE SUMMARY

• You will manage the full merchandising process for fashion handbags across three international fashion brands.

• Your responsibilities will cover product-development coordination, sample follow-up, material and trim follow-up, production management, quality coordination, delivery monitoring, and vendor management. You will work closely with vendor factories, mainly located in Guangzhou, throughout the complete production process.

• Reporting to the Merchandising Manager, you will join a team of six members consisting of the Merchandising Manager, Merchandisers, R&D, QA, and administrative support colleagues.

• You will work closely with the R&D and QA colleagues within the team and communicate regularly with vendor factories to ensure that product requirements, quality standards, production schedules, and delivery targets are achieved.

• The position involves approximately two to three business trips per month to Guangzhou to visit vendor factories. Same-day return travel to Hong Kong is possible. You will also travel to Europe approximately once a year.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Manage the complete merchandising process for fashion handbags, mainly leather handbags, across three international fashion brands.

• Coordinate product-development activities with R&D, QA, merchandising colleagues, and vendor factories.

• Communicate product requirements, design details, quality standards, production instructions, and approved changes to vendor factories and relevant internal teams.

• Coordinate product-development details with R&D colleagues and ensure that approved information is properly communicated to vendors.

• Coordinate with QA colleagues on quality requirements, inspection results, testing requirements, corrective actions, and quality issues.

• Manage production follow-up with vendor factories, mainly located in Guangzhou, from order placement through to finished-goods delivery.

• Monitor production schedules, manufacturing progress, production capacity, material readiness, workmanship, quality, and shipment plans.

• Visit vendor factories regularly to review product-development status, production progress, quality issues, and corrective actions.

• Follow up closely on leather, synthetic materials, trims, hardware, linings, packaging, and other materials required for production.

• Ensure that product quality, construction, workmanship, functionality, and approved product requirements are maintained throughout production.

• Coordinate with vendors and QA colleagues on inspections, quality issues, rework, corrective actions, and final approvals.

• Support the Merchandising Manager in monitoring seasonal collection progress and key production milestones.

• Attend vendor meetings, sample reviews, production meetings, quality meetings, and other product-related discussions.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• 5–6 years of relevant merchandising or production experience in the fashion handbag industry is essential.

• Solid experience in full handbag merchandising, from product-development coordination through to finished-goods delivery.

• Experience in leather handbags is a strong advantage but is not essential.

• Experience managing handbag production with vendor factories is highly preferred.

• Experience with international fashion handbag brands is highly preferred.

• Experience in a fashion handbag-brand sourcing office in Hong Kong is an advantage.

• Good knowledge of handbag materials, construction, trims, hardware, linings, workmanship, and production processes.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Good command of English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

• Willing to travel regularly to Guangzhou.
