Wholly owned by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, Cyberport is Hong Kong’s digital tech hub and AI accelerator, with a vision to empower industry digitalisation and intelligent transformation, to promote digital economy and AI development, and to foster Hong Kong to be an international AI, innovation and technology (I&T) hub. Cyberport gathers over 2,300 companies, including 12 listed companies and 10 unicorns. One-third of onsite companies’ founders come from 26 countries and regions, while Cyberport companies have expanded to over 35 global markets.
Chief Corporate Development Officer
The Position
Being part of the executive management team leading three core functional pillars – Business Development, Corporate Communications & External Relations and Marketing, the Chief Corporate Development Officer (CCDO) will foster synergies between government bodies, global tech enterprises, startups, and the wider Hong Kong community to solidify Hong Kong’s position as a premier international Innovation & Technology Hub. This role will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and support the Board of Directors. The main roles and responsibilities include –
a) Formulate Cyberport’s overall corporate development strategy, actively recruiting high-potential technology enterprises and tech-savvy tenants from Mainland China and overseas to strengthen Hong Kong’s position as a global ICT hub;
b) Cultivate and expand strategic networks across local and international technology, corporate, and academic partners to accelerate growth for the company, its community, and local digital entrepreneurs;
c) Identify and execute new commercial opportunities and secure alternative funding through Public-Private Partnerships, commercial sponsorships, donations, and new revenue streams;
d) Support the market development of emerging technology applications
e) Elevate Cyberport's brand equity locally and globally while driving market awareness of the breakthrough technologies and solutions developed by Cyberport/community companies;
f) Direct comprehensive marketing strategies and world-class ICT flagship events to showcase the technology ecosystem and position the company as a leading international ICT hub player;
g) Formulate integrated public relations and community engagement programs to foster a vibrant, collaborative, and inclusive ICT ecosystem; and
h) Lead corporate public affairs in supporting the Board Chairman and C-level executives with strategic messaging, media engagements, stakeholder relations, and high-level crisis management.
Core attributes and qualifications
a) High political acumen, strategic vision, strong integrity, and a passion for driving community and economic growth through technology;
b) Exceptional track record in public affairs, crisis communications, media relations, and high-level stakeholder engagement (including government bureaus and industry leaders);
c) Proven track record leading cross-functional teams within public bodies, government-subvented organizations, statutory boards, or major technology enterprises in Hong Kong;
d) Good working knowledge of emerging technology applications and the ability to support the development of this market segment
e) Deep understanding of the Hong Kong, Greater Bay Area (GBA), and global technology ecosystems, including tenancy attraction, startup incubation, and commercialization models;
f) Strong grasp of government subvention frameworks, public funding mechanisms, statutory compliance, and public accountability;
g) Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in corporate development, business development, corporate affairs, or strategic marketing within reputable, sizable organizations in the public or private sector;
h) Degree in Business Administration, Innovation & Technology, Corporate Communications, Public Policy, or a related discipline; and
i) Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua).
