Database & Systems Administrator/Virtualization Systems Engineer (over$60K)

Job Duties:

• Provide technical advice on administration, operation, and configuration of GCIS equipment, including databases, servers, storage, and backup facilities, to ensure effective Shared Services delivery.

• Facilitate upgrades of system software in a virtualized environment for GCIS Shared Services.

• Diagnose issues and perform performance tuning on GCIS Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) application servers and databases (e.g., MySQL) to support capacity and configuration management.

• Deliver intensive database support, including backup, recovery, and high-availability configurations in complex environments.

• Support relocation of GCIS systems to new data centres.

• Assist project managers in monitoring work performance and conducting quality assurance of outsourced project deliverables.
  

Job Requirement:

• Higher Diploma or above in IT

• At least 6 years experience in IT infrastructure

• Solid experience in supporting large-scale IT infrastructure (over 500 virtual servers).

• Strong technical expertise in supporting MySQL databases.

• Hands-on experience with virtualization software, particularly VMware 7 or above.

• Proven experience in conducting quality assurance on project deliverables.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Hard-working, self-motivated, and positive attitude.

• Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Willingness to work outside normal office hours for ad-hoc troubleshooting.

• Flexibility to work occasionally in data centres located in Sai Kung, Tsuen Wan, and Cheung Sha Wan.
