System Engineer (VMWare, MSSQL)

Job Duties:

• Provide system and database support for existing computer systems including answering hotline enquiries, performing troubleshooting and recovering the system when incidents occur

• Provide administrative support and preparation of statistics and returns

• Arrange equipment or service procurement and equipment inventory control

• Assist in rectifying and resolving system and database problems when system incidents occur

• Provide maintenance support including implementation and upgrades of both hardware and software assets

• Record all incidents, problems and resolutions in ticketing system

• Perform research, develop and recommend policy guidelines and/or procedures

• Prepare system documentation

• Work outside normal office hours and provide 7 x 24 on-call production support

• Perform any other work as assigned by the supervisor
  

Job Requirements:

• At least three years working experience in Commvault Backup, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft IIS, MSSQL Database and VMware ESXi System support

• At least two years experience in similar post or in comparable capacity

• Clear understanding of Government Standards and Guidelines such as Baseline IT Security Policy (S17), IT Security Guidelines (G3) and Security Regulations (SR)

• Knowledge and experience in systems analysis and design

• Preferably with experience in feasibility/technical studies and team leading/supervision

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment

• Integrity record check required

• Must comply with all government-wide and departmental circulars for staff administration and code of conduct

• May require to work at remote offices scattered over the territory such as control points
