Infrastructure Specialist / Architect (VMWare, over $60K)

Key responsibilities:

• Manage daily infrastructure operations, system performance monitoring, backup administration, and disaster recovery activities

• Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolve critical incidents independently

• Provide after-hours support for maintenance activities on a roster basis

• Establish proactive monitoring and alerting mechanisms to enhance system reliability and availability

• Conduct capacity planning and optimise virtual infrastructure resources

• Plan and execute lifecycle management of Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) platforms, including hardware, firmware, VMware, and storage upgrades

• Lead infrastructure enhancement projects, system integrations, software releases, and patch management initiatives

• Ensure compliance with Government IT security standards, including S17 and G3 requirements

• Prepare procurement documents and manage procurement activities for infrastructure hardware, software, licensing, and maintenance services

• Provide guidance and supervision to junior team members
  

Requrements:

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline

• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification IT experience

• At least 2 years of experience in an Architect, Team Lead, Supervisory, Senior Infrastructure Engineer, or equivalent role

• Strong hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), VMware Lifecycle Management, VMware vSAN and SAN Administration

• Strong hands-on experience with Stretched Cluster Design and Operations and Enterprise Virtualisation Technologies

• Exposure to container platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes (K8s/K3s)

• Holder of VMware professional certifications (e.g. VMware Certified Advanced Professional) will be an advantage

• Good project management skills

• Good communication skills
